STUDY 1

The Study of Posture and Pressure on the Human Form on Comparative Bed Types

Report Conducted: Noel Lythgo, Senior Bio Mechanics Researcher
Melbourne, 2006

Reducing peak pressure points, particularely at hips and shoulders.
Providing increased support in the lower back determined by an increase of pressure.
Improving spinal posture denoted by the alignment of the blue dots to the original “Control Benchmark” yellow dots.


STUDY 2

The Study of Bed Construction and the Dynamic Impact on the Human Form

Report Conducted: Dr. Ray Hayek, Macquarie University, Sydney School of Chiropractic, 2005

A range of male and female subjects were tested on a bed unit without Variable Support and then on the same bed unit with Variable Supported introduced.

Use of Variable Support Bed showed the following benefits:

Decrease in “disc wedging” demonstrating less tension and compression at those levels. Decreased spinal rotation.
Improved spinal alignment closer to the ‘zero stress’ posture.
Notably improved pressure distribution demonstrating a significant decrease of peak pressure points.

STUDY 3

Report Conducted: Associate Professor Nicholas Haritos, Reader at Engineering – Melbourne University, 2005

The study was conducted on the recognition of varying weight and shape of the human form, particularly noting the region of Hips, Lumbar and Shoulders.

Construction of the mattress requires varying degrees of “introduced support” to match the weight and shape profile of the individual.
