Did you know?
– the most important consideration – when choosing your bed. It is your body shape that determines how well your bed can support you.

Study 1 Your body-shape – the most important consideration – when choosing your bed Study 1
Study 1 Study 1

It is your body shape that determines how well your bed supports you.

One of the key studies undertaken by Spinal Support Bed Systems investigated how your posture changes when sleeping on different beds.

It is clearly evident that if "Correct Posture" is required, then the person's shape needs to be considered and accommodated, not just their weight. But the mattress support system reacts to weight not shape... and "That's the Crux of the Problem!"

The following diagrams provide a summary of the research results into the relationship of weight and shape.

Weight Profile

This is the usual profile taken by mattresses. It is in proportion to and a reflection of the sleeper's weight along the body.

Shape Profile

This is the profile the mattress should take to support the sleeper with correct posture. It is not possible because all mattresses adapt to "weight" not "shape".

When the two profiles are combined you can see that the "Weight Curve" taken by conventional mattresses is different to the "Shape Curve" of the sleeper and thus needs to be modified. The conclusion to this study is quite clear. Your posture and shape when standing provides correct spinal alignment. When you lie down the posture and shape is changed due to gravitational forces and the inability of the bed to alter the level of support when required... at ALL points in the critical zone from shoulders to hips.

Combined Weight/Shape Profile

This is the key factor why beds incorporating Futura Bed Technologies are the "World's Best Correct-Supportive Bed Systems". Beds featuring this technology allow you to change the level of support along the bed until the "Weight and Shape Profile match" and You get the support/posture your body needs.
